Great product for the price [Posted on 2008-12-28] I bought this for my husband as a Christmas gift. This was the best price I saw and I looked everywhere. He absolutely loves it. It's easy to use without the complicating bells and whistles. It's great for daily gym use.
ipod shuffle [Posted on 2008-12-29] I purchased 3 of these for my 9 and 10-year-old grandchildren. They absolutely love them.
if you listen to music when you workout, this is the mp3 player for you [Posted on 2008-12-30] This is the very best mp3 player on the market for those who like to listen to music when they workout. The 1GB is plenty if you want to use it for this. Sounds great, easy to use, and good interface (iTunes). A great bargain for only $50.
If you're traveling on a long trip or have needs only than just a simple player that can load about 4-5 hours worth of material, you might need something else, but if you want something for quick trips and workouts, this is the best device out there.
Great But Limited! [Posted on 2008-12-30] The shuffle is great and compact and works well in conjunction with working out. It's always reliable, and seems to hold a charge for quite some time. On the down side though, you can't see what you want to play (there's no screen), and there are also no commands other than on/off. You also can't organize folders - all types of songs go into one long playlist. At 2gb, it holds a lot, so you may have to go through a LOT of songs to get to the one you want. At the price though, it's almost worthing have separate shuffles for different folders.
Not worth the trouble [Posted on 2008-12-31] So I admit it - I broke down and bought me a piece of eye-candy. A shiny little green ipod shuffle. Everybody else seems to have an Apple product of some sort and the extremely small dimensions of this player were also very appealing to me.
But this thing is going back immediately. What a hassle to set it up - which, by the way, I could not succeed in even after hours of tweaking and reinstalling and so on.
First, you only can load this device with music through the itunes application. Okay, no big deal, not as user friendly as with my two other MP3-Players (drag and drop of songs in Windows Explorer), but tolerable.
Then, before you can use this thing, you have to register it with Apple. What???! Arrrgh! Okay, so I registered. Also set up an itunes account, on the insistence of the software. I didn't want to do that, I don't intend to use the i-store ... but anyway.
Then I was told that the device had to be reformatted and reset back to its original state ... what original state, it came right out of the box ... well, I did that, only to get an error message, that the device was reset now, but could not be recognized by the itune software due to some cryptic error.
What a crap!
I will exchange this piece of junk for a Sansa Clip - the dimensions are not as tiny, but I know it will work right out of the box - without any registration crap or reset BS. Apple - never, ever again!
